The "Gorny Vozdukh" project was developed as part of a competition to create an architectural and urban planning concept for the development of the "Gorny Vozdukh" sports and tourist complex in the advanced special economic zone of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk.

Project Goals
The competition aimed to provide a well-justified urban, architectural, and recreational solution for the development of the area, including the creation of a comfortable urban environment and the enhancement of new and existing recreational zones. The project promotes winter sports and healthy lifestyles while fostering new investment opportunities and tourism development in the Sakhalin region.

Key Development Components
  1. Service and Hotel Complexes at three stations (lower, middle, and upper).
  2. New Ski Trails and snowmobile routes.
  3. Modernized Lift Lines.

Lower Station
  • Construction of a three-level multifunctional center serving as the administrative hub, visitor reception, and a venue for conferences and presentations.
  • Features include commercial zones such as a food court, retail store, equipment rental and repair facilities, service and garage facilities for specialized equipment, and a guest cottage village with supporting infrastructure.
  • Architecture is executed in a modern Scandinavian style.

Middle Station
  • Phase one involves constructing an access road and parking for visitors and staff.
  • Development of a hotel complex comprising three blocks:
Block 1: A 5-7-story variable-height building with 180 rooms, terraces, and roof access, designed to follow the natural terrain.
Block 2: A 50-room hotel with a restaurant, SPA, and equipment rental facilities.
Block 3: A cluster of guest cottages in traditional Scandinavian style, accommodating 50 people.

Upper Station
  • Located at the highest point of the complex, offering stunning panoramic views but subject to strong winds.
  • Architectural solutions are designed with aerodynamics in mind to withstand harsh weather conditions.
  • Proposed facilities include:
○ A three-level aerodynamic restaurant with solar panels, inspired by Arctic station designs.
○ Dome-shaped guest cottages featuring advanced technologies for aerodynamics, heat retention, easy installation, seismic resistance, and unique aesthetics.
○ Wind turbines to provide clean and renewable energy for the complex.

The "Gorny Vozdukh" project integrates modern technology, sustainable energy solutions, and innovative design to create a state-of-the-art recreational and tourism destination that harmonizes with the natural environment.
